What is ACS?
Atlantic Community Services is a Section 21 company which has been developed in conjunction with the Atlantic Christian Assembly church in Sea Point and in response to the need for a more effective approach to Cape Town's community and social upliftment challenges. The need for a partnership approach
A number of initiatives and small non-profit organisations have arisen in Cape Town through individuals associated with Atlantic Christian Assembly. These organsations are bringing about positive change in our society by meeting the challenges of HIV/AIDS, crime, unemployment, homelessness and other social problems. However their impact has been limited to the resources and capacity of a handful of 'vision bearers'. We are now excited to see a new and effective approach to this urgent work through the combination and consolidation of skills, experience and resources via a central community action hub - Atlantic Community Services (ACS).
The primary objectives of atlantic community services are::
- To build the organisational capacity of community services in Cape Town.
- To enable sharing of resources where appropriate.
- To facilitate partnerships between the various community services.
- To establish an effective interface between the community services affiliated to ACS and the wider church (Atlantic Christian Assembly).
- To facilitate fundraising.
- To incubate new community services.
